As an avid traveller, Thailand has always been mystical to me with various places of interest that is more than meets the eye from Thailand\'s superb golden palaces to it\'s fascinating scenery and breath-taking natural wonders. Thailand’s crystal clear beaches with splendid flora and fauna simply ruse my desire for an adventure of a lifetime, what more with the chance to go deep water scuba diving uncovering Thailand lost underwater treasures or hop on to Thailand’s world renowned “tut-tut”. When I’m tired, I could easily enjoy genuine Thailand’s food endowed with South East Asia heritage making it a rare privilege and then retreat to bask in Thailand’s relaxing beaches. It’s an adventure every time, any where in Thailand.

I was one of the first (as VP M&S AP for Le Meridien in 1984-1989) to recognize the further value that international market suppliers would place on the newly emerging international standard of accommodation being developed with our Thai investment partners. Baack in the 1980s this was instrumental in helping to raise their expectations of what European and Regional visitors would be happy to pay for the right \'new\' standard of improved, well designed accommodation. That confidence we helped inspire and support resulted in firmly establishing HKT\'s earlier new development of the time as capable of charging international prices comfortably and with customer satisfaction. That has led to much of the subsequent acceptance that has kept high quality standards as the primary and most sensible type of development for the island, with its subsequent benefit to its people, their families and their communities, and visitors and subsequent investors worldwide.

Why should you win the prize from The Tourism Authority of Thailand?

Having been to Thailand thrice, I already feel like a Thai person! Right from the time we stepped on aboard our Thai Airways flight to Bangkok, we got a feel of \'\'Thainess\'\' which is amazing. The \'\'Swadikha\'\' welcome on board was so refreshing compared to other alirlines!

Our recent visits to Thailand were during the Songkran festival in April 2008 as well as in April 2009. During this visit, we enjoyed ourselves playing with water in Pattaya and the festivities at Wat Po in Bangkok. We were so impressed with the Thai culture and friendliness of the locals, the tuk tuk drivers, the taxi drivers and everybody that we never felt we were touring a foreign land!

So we were there again in Bangkok this Songkran of April 2009 too to experience more and more of Thainess. The Thai Airways flight was as smooth as silk and so was the stay! We stayed in a small, but new hotel in Pratunam, the GrandWater Gate and enjoyed the hospitality. Again we went to see the festivities at Wat Po and thoroughly enjoyed playing with the water amongst the local Thai people.

We were deeply touched by the prayer ceremony that we witnessed at Central World Mall in Pratunam and realised that the Thai culture is so similar with that of India! We shopped till we dropped and took home very pleasant memories of our trip in more than 300 pictures!

We have recommended so many of our friends and relatives to visit Thailand and many of them have also done so. Infact on our suggestion, a relative of ours, Mukul bafana, got recently married in Bangkok at the Intercontinental, Bangkok. This marriage attracted almost more than 500 people from India and the USA.

I consider myself an ambassador of Thailand and would be more than happy if the country gave me that status officially.

Being so much in love with Thailand, I feel I need reason to keep visiting again and again and feel there is no one other than me so much in love with Thailand and feel I should certainly be the winner so that I can come fall in love with Thailand, again and again and again.

Why should you win the prize from The Tourism Authority of Thailand?

I went to Thailand when I was 15 with my school and had an amazing experience. The food, the night market, the elephant riding, the warm hospitality from the locals are all abosoloutly fantastic. I even made a new friend. I always wanted to go back to Thailand again but never did. Its been 4 years now and I really want to go enjoy the relaxing and welcoming Thai atmostphere.

Also, I want to treat my mum to a holiday. She\'s been working so hard to support the family, she hardly takes a break. In her life, she had never travel to anywhere futher than Malaysia.
It would be really great for us, mother and daughter, to go on a holiday together. Thus, I should win the prize as it would be a really great way for me to thank my mum for taking care of me and providing for us. Thank You.
